Instead of getting rid of the games I have a proposal. The players weren’t really playing and injured players were being replaced because they couldn’t play.
I want a team of each position. The winner of each position is the captain or coach. It doesn’t matter if they are injured, they don’t have to actually play. So there will be 4 teams of each position. Though some positions could be combined, like kickers/punters and right/left tackle. They pick from the runner ups to get a full roster, including 2nd and 3rd string if needed. Anyone who doesn’t want to play doesn’t have to. AFC and NFC play themselves and just have a winning team for each one.
Shorten the games, so its a half or even just a quarter. Loosen up the rules, except for hits. Bad hits are a no go, but that means runners/receivers should try to go down easier. Make it more like backyard games. I think this would make the players more engaged. They would be playing with people they actually like, wouldn’t have to worry about getting hurt, and it wouldn’t take up as much time. It could help get an understanding of other positions, so coaches could be more for it as well.
Mostly though, I just want a team of quarterbacks. Also centers trying to kick/punt. Running backs as linemen. It’s not like I came up with this whole plan because I want Josh Allen to play as a running back. That would be crazy!

They used to have the Quarterback Challenge, which I enjoyed watching. They could do something similar with different positions and have a combined score determine the winner.
