Nice to see a more fun Superman movie. Superman has been pretty gloom ever since Smallville. All theatrical supermen(and batmen) have been broody. I think James Gunn could really help shake off that super serious “the world is shit” troupe, and bring back fun main heroes in the DC universe.
I also appreciate how different Superman is here. It’s a little off-putting at first because this scene/preview is so different than any Superman we’ve seen (in live action).
Obviously it’s going to take seeing the movie and hoping Gunn pulls it off, but I’m excited.
To give a recent example for a different character, Brainiac. Recently Brainiac appeared on Harley Quinn with a pet monkey. I’ve never seen Brainiac with a pet monkey. It was weird. I looked it up, he had a pet monkey in older comics. However I’d never seen Brainiac depicted with a pet monkey in any version of Brainiac since the 90s, so seeing him with a monkey was weird.
In this new Superman we’re going to get more of The Fortress of Solitude, and it’s going to be weird and I’m ok with that.
