Basically, there’s a difference between being the first to do something and having no records of someone having done it before.
Often there’s no records for things because they weren’t considered important to record.
“She said before the trip, she researched and verified the accuracy of her claim with Parks Canada and local outfitters in Qikiqtarjuaq and Pangnirtung.”
Given the above, I can’t really fault her too much. I would put more of the blame on Parks Canada.
Now she needs to apologizing for being a social media influencer at all.
“A British traveller has issued an apology after claiming she was the first woman to solo traverse Nunavut’s – and Canada’s – largest island.”
Inuit not happy considering they’ve been doing this for quite some time.
