Ever since I saw therians wearing the customised cat masks on YT and Tiktok, I’ve been really curious about this. I know the number 1 reason is to stay anonymous and hide your identity on the platforms so you don’t get found out, that seems to be the biggest reason.

I hate the fact the masks are associated with Therians so much. It’s not about it at all. Not a fashion trend, not a style, the masks have nothing to do with it.

I only have a mask for anonymity and to show what my theriotype is, but it seems like they pop up in every single compilation I see about Therians. Mask making, new masks, etc.

Tiktok has damaged our reputation. The amount of news articles where we’re called “furries” and they say we dress with the masks and tails and do quads for fun and they mention the animal identity part like it’s a mental illness. It makes me sad tbh. They only mention Therian like once or twice and continue to call us furries.
