It’s easy to forget that a pan just came out of the oven and grab the handle out of habit, especially if you more often use your pans on the stove. To avoid getting badly burnt, an easy trick is to slide an oven mitt over the handle of your pan right after taking it out of the oven. This is both a good reminder that the pan is oven-hot, and gives you a way to grab the handle without having to wear an oven mitt, which can make it more awkward do do other things in the kitchen.
Bonus tip: wet oven mitts do not work! If your oven mitt gets wet, don’t try to grab anything hot with it until it dries.
