This bill was introduced by a Republican?

I mean… a broken clock is right twice a day, right?

A rare instance of Missouri becoming national news in a good way.

Hannibal Missouri is notorious for their red light camera cartel.

Hannibal is a town built on the transportation industry, straddling a major highway route with heavy truck traffic. The traffic lights in town are intentionally timed too short on yellow so semi trucks traveling at or even under the posted speed limit cannot stop in time.

They aggressively pursue their camera tickets on trucks, threaten to sue trucking companies to get them to identify the driver (they can’t actually do this but most companies cave anyway), and the city has a financial agreement with every lawyer within driving distance of the town to agree to automatically lower the charge to a “non-points” offense at a SUBSTANTIALLY increased fine, on top of the cost of the lawyer.

It’s a revenue racket preying specifically on truck drivers.
