Did he butt dial him?
He only thinks it was a “mistake” because he (at least publically) believes that Trump is working in the interest of NATO, Ukraine or the Western world and isn’t working for Russia.
I mean, I think he knows that, but, is being diplomatic and not trying to create undue fuss with someone he hopes to coax back in to being an ally.
Is he naive in that belief? Perhaps. Is he choosing not to pick a fright because he’s already got a big enough one on his hands? maybe.
