Well since the attack ads were primarily focused on his name, religion, and ethnicity, I don’t think we should accept that as a rationale. I found myself unable to skip them when they played, and holy shit were they bad. His ability to attract those attack ads was almost entirely because he offended AIPAC and because he is Muslim. They tried some other tactics early on (Medicare, ‘fake doctor’, etc), but the last few weeks has been almost nothing but attacks on his identity.

Okay, I don’t really agree that having special interests spend against you makes you a weak candidate. Especially when that money doesn’t lead to your loss. If someone puts a 5 foot high hurdle in front of you, you are not weaker if you fail to clear it by the same margin as the runner next to you clears their 3 foot hurdle.

In fact going into the next race without knowing what the hurdle height will be, I’m more likely to pick the runner who cleared 5 feet. You can’t rely on your positions not attracting outside opponents, but you can rely on conservatives to make accomplishing anything good into a fight. I would rather have candidates ready for that fight than ones who are trying to avoid it by triangulating their positions to not offend conservatives.

Second, the John James factor. This is John James third statewide office run, and third loss. He hasn’t come within 100k of winning. Rogers lost to Slotkin by only ~30k

I don’t know, maybe have an ounce of solidarity and don’t engage with transphobia. It’s that simple. Even saying you don’t think its a relevant issue to the campaign is better.

If the moral obligation isn’t enough motivation, maybe the studies that recently came out showing tranphobic attacks weren’t even helping Republicans are. It’s not just awful, but also a losing strategy.

This is kind of an interesting one historically. My understanding is it goes back to minor scriptural differences with Christian practices. Essentially early Christians had a rule against usury or the practice of taking interest on lending. Jewish people of the same era had a similar rule, but it was interpreted at the time to only apply to lending within the faith.

Now with banking taking off as being a useful thing to have for business, Christians had a stigma against being lenders, so instead they legally enforced a code restricting Jewish people to essentially only being able to take those professions.

So a combination of preexisting antisemitism and cultural disdain for moneylending combined to force Jewish people to be the lenders, and then Christians grew to hate Jewish people more because of the situation they created.

I agree with you on the jealousy part. I was just commenting that I think many of the people who are not jealous in the way we seem to be, would use different terms to describe themselves, because the word’cuck’ is so associated with porn that focuses on jealousy and humiliation over just enjoying your partner being with someone else.

I think a big part of the issue is people who don’t know the varieties and genres of cuck style porn. There are many people like you’ve mentioned who play with others without jealousy, but I think many of them would go with the label hotwife/hothusband or stag/vixen or even just swingers.

The humiliation, jealousy, and racist aspects are mostly tied to specific types that call themselves specifically cuck porn instead of some other variant, and that’s I think what most people are associating with it.
