I am incredibly pro-desktop computer but it’s 2025 dude. Times have changed. Desktop/laptop computers are not the only way to work anymore. I’m not saying it’s going the way of cursive anytime soon, but I also think you’re maybe getting a little too worried considering when we were in school computer education was generally a fucking joke no matter where you went yet most of us turned out fine. If kids are going to need computers, they’re going to learn computers.

  • Man I want to pump my fist and say “hell yeah” but it has been a fight for a fucking decade and I just do not see the path forward right now. Right now it feels fucking hopeless and I know that will change but vague notions of unity and fighting back do not carry any water for me right now.

Some of us have put years of work into things that just evaporated two days ago with the stroke of a pen. I’ve been stun grenade-d by the police, been physically grabbed by MAGAts while trying to film interviews as a member of the press, called a race traitor and threatened by neo nazis, been doxxed twice, had my kids threatened, and I’m fucking exhausted. So unless you have something very specific and actionable right this fucking second I can do with minimal effort I just can’t give you any of my mental bandwidth or energy or optimism. I know it will come back, but today? I’m out of spoons.

  • Because they don’t know anything about beer and it’s basically a meme at this point that boomers came up with (rooted in truth in their defense) because we spent decades rebuilding our beer scene after prohibition and, more importantly, Carter’s legalization of homebrewing.

Germany - like most european countries - is amazing at making old world/regional styles. You don’t go to the US to get a Czech Pilsner or a proper Marzen or rauchbier. You get stouts, hazy IPA’s, etc. Germany even relaxed its laws on what qualifies as a proper-made [insert style] about a decade ago to be more competitive with the US craft beer movement.

This is like complaining that some country doesn’t have amazing champagne like the champagne region in France or a New Yorker whining about how they can’t get a quality New York pizza in Idaho.
