I keep getting errors on FreeTube on Linux.
We used to have free speech and an open internet in the UK. Now I need a VPN to access Lemmy.zip because Labour has turned Britain into an Orwellian Nightmare.
I keep getting errors on FreeTube on Linux.
EDIT.
I solved the issue. The Asus laptop uses a MediaTek wifi and bluetooth chip that isn’t supported by Linux. I’ve ordered a TP-Link mini USB adapter so hopefully that works.
When I installed Mint on the laptop with the ethernet port there was no WiFi adapters found. So I updated the kernel, restarted and WiFi was working.
I used the same live USB on both laptops.
Unfortunately my other laptop has no ethernet port so I must wait for a USB dongle to be delivered.
It’s an Asus Vivobook X1504Z that I bought last month. I just tried the latest Ubuntu on a live USB and just like Mint there is no wifi or bluetooth.
I think my best bet is waiting for the USB wifi dongle to arrive tomorrow.
The WiFi on both laptops didn’t work at first. On the ethernet one a kernel update fixed it. I guess I’ll have to source a usb dongle.

Anyone (especially in the UK) that cares about data privacy and security should abandon cloud storage in favor of local encrypted storage.
This may come as a shock but the UK is not in the USA and Trump has nothing to do with this. Our corrupt government is fucking things up in their own way.
Clearly it was a massive flop. For a AAA game to be on the basic tier of PS Plus just 5 months after launch is practically unheard of.
It’s Spider-Man Remastered and its $25.
It doesn’t say it comes with it so I assume it doesn’t.
This is what happens when you overcharge for a remaster.
Part II really, REALLY doesn’t need a sequel. I don’t think Part I did.
So I will update my PS3 slim then but do they really think people with jailbroken consoles are going to update them? I haven’t updated my CFW fat PS3 for years.
It’s Call of Duty Warzone believe it or not.
I look at more of how much privacy do I want and what am I willing to give up to get it.
The more you try and keep your data private the less user friendly things tend to get. You need to find a balance that suits you while satisfying your main privacy concerns.
But staying away from “big tech” as much as you can and using a good VPN (Proton or Mullvad) is a MUST for any threat model.
I gave up on my first attempt to go fully private because I tried to go as far as is possible. Now I have struck what I think is a good balance. No iCloud, No Google and absolutley no Facebook, Twitter or Reddit.
Just because it LOOKS like you deleted it can you know for a 100% certainty that it isn’t still running and hidden in the background?
It has been for years. But since Two-Tier Kier has arrived on the scene he appears to using 1984 as a how-to manual.
However it’s not ALL bad. It has made a lot of people that until now didn’t care about data privacy start doing what they can to keep their data out of government reach.
Until the Apple ADP fiasco I was all-in on iCloud. Now I don’t use any of it. I use local encrypted storage with dummy partitions and passwords so I can give those if i’m ever forced and they still get fuck all.
What if we don’t store it in the cloud and keep local encrypted storage only? I guess Mr FBI is shit out of luck then.
How do we live in a world where local storage is now the only safe choice?
I’m switching from iPhone to Pixel soon and its crap like this that made me decide to install GrapheneOS on it as soon as comes out of the box.
Likely depends on your VPN. I use Proton and it’s fine.
