Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.1 adds support for eight more devices, updates Morph Browser, improves notifications, and fixes a security vulnerability.

Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.1 adds eight devices to the list supported by the 24.04-2.x series. These include the Nothing Phone (1), OnePlus Nord N10 and N100, Volla Tablet, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro (Global), Redmi Note 9S/9 Pro (India), Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, and Poco M2 Pro.

Another notable change is the updated Morph Browser, which now uses QtWebEngine 6.11.2 based on Chromium 140, with additional security fixes. The update also improves tab switching and restores user script support in the Qt 6-based implementation.

Dropping love to ubports team. I don’t actively use Ubuntu touch but I do have it on my old oneplus, and have grand disillusionment I’ll make and host a web server on it so people can fonnect to it post contact info, a list of alive and well, lost and found, and a trading post section in an emergency situation. It sits in one of my go bags and has a basic desktop set up with gimp, a video editor, and pipepipe or something, and I was going to make use of the native chrome cast like feature it has and use a tiny keyboard.

Linux phones are the future we should be working for and I wish I found them more viable and hope that in the up coming years interest in alternatives will naturally continue to grow.
