Ottawa has said it would respond with countermeasures should the tariffs materialize

U.S. President Donald Trump still plans to make good on his promise to issue tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Saturday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Tuesday.

Leavitt said Trump is also still weighing fresh tariffs on China for Saturday.

Trump said last week he would announce 25 per cent tariffs on Mexico and Canada on Feb. 1 unless the countries help tackle the twin issues of U.S. fentanyl trafficking and immigration.

Canadian officials have said Ottawa would respond with countermeasures should Trump’s tariffs materialize.

And we will counter Tarif, as we should, and both countries will be worse off!

Prices will go up, Trump will later pretend to be a hero by ending Obama’s Tariffs, prices will go down slightly (not nearly as much as they went up by), and the American Oligarchs profit from the inflation.
