Damn, that rail network in Warsaw pact areas is Dense.
Not murdered to make way for car infrastructure as early as the 1930s.
This really shows the difference between France’s TGVs vs Germany’s ICEs. The former is so much faster! Italy, Spain and UK seem to have roughly the same speed, while East of Germany you barely move.
On the other hand, like another commenter pointed out, the network is very dense there so you can get anywhere by train. The TGV is genuinely a marvel but good luck if you’re going to a place with less than 100k people.
Would rail and sail count? Then you could get into Ireland and onto trains there https://www.stenaline.co.uk/rail-and-sail/to-ireland.
It would be ridiculous to include on the map but just pointing it out
