I don’t even look at the news, I do not actively look for it anyways. I find it overwhelmingly negative and it gets in the way of my daily mood. regardless, everywhere I go it seems we’re in the news. Whether I’m waiting at an airport and a tv is showing a news report on anti-trans bills, or I swipe left on my phone screen and it shows the top 5 trending headlines and one of them HAS to mention trans issues, maybe I decide to go on instagram and someone keeps reposting about how there’s no hope for trans people, or I give it a break and read a magazine - just to open to a article about being trans.

For less than 1% of the population, everyone seems to have their own opinion on our right to live. And of course online there’s a very loud minority of trans people spewing gender nonsense left and right. I don’t blame people for being transphobic because it’s fucking everywhere, but at the same time I wish they would understand that we don’t like this either. Throughout all these news reports, articles, videos, I never see a trans person actually speaking. It always has to be a cis person speaking “on behalf” of us.

It just pisses me off. it’s one thing seeing all this trans shit in the media, it’s another thing to go on the media as a distraction from your own dysphoria just to be met with it time and time again. 👎👎👎
