With the recent glaive buffs I’ve grown to really enjoy them (the slow reload hurt them for me). Previously I liked Vexcalibur due to its many perks, but that was it. Then Bungie caught my attention when it teased a Strand glaive for Act 2.
However, if you look at its perk pool, it’s barely a strand glaive - it only has a single Strand-related perk. Granted, not having Tear makes sense since glaives don’t crit. But what about Hatchling or Slice?
Missed opportunity in my book. What do y’all think?
I mean, I see what you mean. Only has Slice as the only Strand Specific thing. Compared to most other glaives that have a couple of different specific energy perks. I guess you could use Unraveling Orbs?
Could pair Windmills with the new Melee Momentum for super fast walking and blocking speed. Discord is pretty good on specials, too.
I’ve been using glaives in every GM this season. I’m a sucker for Replenishing Aegis, but that leaves the second column. I like Unstoppable Force or Sword Logic.
For my use, I’ve been loving Rake Angle for the kinetic slot with Replenishing and Chill Clip.
Yeah that’s a top tier Angle roll. I also thought of something after posting this: What if the choice to make Refusal strand came down to the simple aspect of build crafting? Since Strand has two slots and Kinetic only has one, I wonder if more people simply build into strand weapons. Hence, make it work with reserves, reload, scavs, etc.
Also have to think thematically about a “kinetic” Glaive. We have one kinetic fusion (Bastion) and one kinetic linear fusion (Arbalest). They both utilize the firing of slugs (maybe through use of something like a rail gun). I don’t know how they would be able to make a Glaive like that. It would definitely have to be exotic, but I still think glaives are under-used in pve. Their play-making potential is stupid high, but as far as flashy-ness is concerned, kinda dull.
Easy fix: Every glaive melee kill results in a Michael Bay explosion. Not an ignition, just the pyrotechnics.
