Summary
Trump intensified his criticism of judges, targeting U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Judge James Boasberg, accusing them of undermining his authority by blocking mass deportation plans.
Trump labeled judges opposing his actions as “Radical Left” and called for Boasberg’s impeachment after Boasberg blocked deportations under the 1798 Enemy Aliens Act.
Chief Justice Roberts countered, stating impeachment is not a remedy for judicial disagreements.
Trump’s rhetoric has raised concerns about increasing threats against judges amid ongoing legal disputes over his policies.
Even Roberts voted Trump should be immune from all crimes he commits. Don’t get your hopes up on this.
Yeah but they voted 5-4 to release foreign aid on March 4th. Threatening the courts may work, or it may backfire and the court actually defend each other by ruling by the law.
I swear roberts only makes good decisions to build up capital for the bad ones.
The best we can hope for, under the circumstances, is that Roberts comes to deeply regret that decision, as Trump turns on him.
If Roberts decides trump is on track to put Roberts in a prison cell or work camp, Roberts make express some self preservation before he would no longer have the power to, and actually rule on the side of democracy finally fulfilling his role as a check on power of the Executive Branch. Thats the hope.
5-4 instead of 6-3.
They have demonstrated they will overturn themselves based on how they are feeling that day, so I wouldn’t rely on getting the same judgement if a similar case comes up and they are pissed at the defendant.
