Anyone still here? How do we get more people to come from the Rochester subreddit to this one or help people find this community? I no longer have a Reddit account and have no desire to create a new one.
Heh, didn’t even realize we had a Lemmy community. Well hello there other Rochestarians.
Just be patient. When reddit was young, there wasn’t even subreddits yet and everything was posted to the front-page. Subreddits came later, and the millions of distinct subreddits even later.
Given the total population of users on Lemmy currently, it might be better to post to larger communities for now, to increase the odds of interactions.
For example, if you’re a hockey fan, you could post to your team’s community and have no interaction, or post the same to the larger hockey community and get the social part of social media. Only once the communities get too busy do you split off to a quieter place with a narrower scope.
Likewise, you might be better posting to your state or country level communities, depending on the topic. Spreading our attention too far will just lead to a bunch of empty places.

I only see two options
- Walk around Rochester handing out pamphlets or similar
- purchase ad space on reddit advertising lemmy
