It’s totally just a coincidence that this is being done just under two weeks from the midterms. This is definitely not intended to put his finger on the scales for getting new parents, especially poor ones, to vote for him as a quid pro quo, more or less.
I don’t have a terribly high opinion on the intelligence or critical thinking capabilities of my countrymen in a statistical sense, so I would not be surprised if this actually moved the needle.
Trump is claiming to run the government like a business with ‘dividends’ being offered to reflect its ‘success’ if Republicans hold both chambers of Congress, but no solvent business in the world would be distributing dividends while hemorrhaging trillions of dollars a year.
That’s just grift, not smart business.
