A favorite song from the cure. Though there are so many good ones. But damn does this make me feel old. Lol several years older than this song.

Secrets is my seemingly hot take favorite from the album. The change in tone from their debut to the second album is amazing.

I’ve tried to appreciate their first album a couple times, but haven’t been able to.

The first one was way more punk. Way different from what came later. I credit his time with Siouxie Sue and the gang as an influence for the change. He did steal her lip color after all.

I listened to the first half of Three Imaginary Boys again just now, while driving with my cousin to the store at night. I liked it a lot more now that I wasn’t intently listening to it. (Not to say that it’s background music, but sometimes I can begin to appreciate an album more when I’m not focusing on it too much.) I was going to dispute your calling it “punk”, but it makes sense when I remember that the term “positive punk” was in use at that time.

Yes at the time there were many other acts like the Damned. Who had a lot of variety in their sound. It wasn’t such distilled Lo-Fi screaming that it tends to be today. Which by the way the Damned are another great iconic group. Still active today.
