Even worse, the instance block still allows them to see your comments and posts (really in it’s current implementation it’s more of a “mute”) and interact with them.
So if you’re on a world news article and rightfully comment about Russia being an invader of a sovereign nation or something, it’s at risk of being down vote brigaded by Tankie Triad users and they can leave shit talking comments under it that you’ll never see so can’t defend yourself from
Yea but they aren’t really screaming into the void, my primary concern is the bad look it paints the Lemmy-verse to the outside and giving us the rep that Lemmy is “Tankie Central” or worse “Voat 2.0”
I’ve already seen a few comments on Reddit about how they tried Lemmy and found it to be “full of tankies”
There’s not really a way to change that. Lemmy is built by tankies. Until someone maintains a viable fork there’s not much you can do. Arguing with them isn’t going to change anything.
It only seems like that, because currently a large chunk of the people here are technical people who aren’t afraid of opening or navigating GitHub
The average joe just looking for their Reddit replacement does not care who the devs are or what they believe.
But they do care what they see in their day-to-day usage of the platform. Ergo, if there was wide defederation from the Tankie Triad it would go a long way to shifting the wider Lemmy-verses rep back to more positive pastures
As far as the code base itself, it’s just code, whose purpose is to be a link-aggregator social media server software. There’s nothing political about it in any way

Honestly don’t care as long as I don’t have to see their bs. They can scream into the void for all I care.
