I would say that paint depends on what style the room is overall.
Looking at the bed for comparison some paint would be needed, however comparing to the shelf it might be an industrial looking and if that is the case paint wouldn’t be necessary and cinder blocks can fitt into it.
In conclusion, we need more pictures of the room to determine paint or no paint and colour.
