But the genocide was all good during the administration of genocide joe? It only became bad when Trump continued it?

It was never good, never acceptable, and something that I fervently criticized.

The distinction I am making here is that I now consider them to be in league with Trump. It’s a talking point that I will use with Democratic supporters of Israel to try and get them to reconsider their position. Not that I expect much traction, but given how much of a “team sport” American politics is it seems like something to call them out for.

        “What about?”

Funny how you are unable to cope with Trump doing it, but constantly need to bring up the person who isn’t currently the president.

You know, anyone can honor the ICC’s warrant. My individual. Doesn’t have to be a state actor. A mob of good intentioned folks can scoop him up and fly him to them. And because the ICC issued it, it’s not illegal to do so.

Great way to get killed by his security detail. Also since the US doesn’t recognize the ICC you would get hit by kidnapping charges and probably other ones like terrorism and assault. Also how are you gonna fly him to The Hague against his will?

Not necessarily, the US has never recognized the ICC.

The US doesn’t recognize the authority of the ICC. They also have a law on the books that says they will invade and free American citizens held by the ICC.

Though to be honest other countries are not better. He visited Hungary not long ago and they technically should follow the ICC warrant. They just decided to not to enforce it.

The ICC is kind of a toothless organization anyways since it depends on countries to enforce it’s warrants and if a country refuses to they can’t really do anything.

It’s a little more complicated than that. For one thing, the US Constitution guarantees a trial by jury, and the ICC does not have any Juries. And also, the US court system puts the highest authority under one Supreme Court, and if the US were to join the ICC it would have to figure out how to have the ICC’s jurisdiction align with that.

It will require a Constitutional amendment to allow the ICC to function within our judicial system, and everyone knows that. Bill Clinton originally signed the treaty when he was President, but never submitted it to Congress because he understood the legal and constitutional hurdles it faced

I didn’t claim it would be easy… maybe some sort of catch-and-extradite “hands off” policy.

I just feel like rubbing elbows with that guy is a dumb fucking idea for any US government officials.

But Trump is a dumb fuck (imho), so whatever.
