Ehh… Not really. The original ending was 3 choices presented by the deus ex Ghost child thing.
They later added a 4th choice, which was to reject those 3 choices, and effectively lose. Despite that being the answer in the previous two games, as the control and synthesis choices were what the antagonists were pushing in those games, and presented as bad choices. It was a basically a fuck you to the fans.
