.Pet dogs have ‘extensive and multifarious’ impact on environment, new research finds
An Australian review of existing studies has argued that “the environmental impact of owned dogs is far greater, more insidious, and more concerning than is generally recognised”.
The carbon footprint of pets is also significant. A 2020 study found the dry pet food industry had an environmental footprint of around twice the land area of the UK, with greenhouse gas emissions – 56 to 151 Mt CO2 – equivalent to the 60th highest-emitting country.
Let alone in Austrailia the enormous death rate from koalas from dogs.
Owning other beings leads to widespread problems. Imagine that.

Sure, on a log scale, fine. But the reality is that this is units of measure less concern than what capitalism is doing to our planet. This does not make “dogs owned” a low hanging fruit, but instead a distraction.
Hey I got an idea: Lets go after dog ownership. That will clearly get people on our side.
All systems of oppression must be dismantled, no matter how inconvenient or unpleasant that process may be.
lol that you think my doggo’s are oppressed. Totally not sounding like a nutjob. Please tell me more about your not crazy beliefs so I can summarily dismiss them as syphalitic ramblngs. That’s what you’re asking for. Keep in mind the more you dig in the more I give my good boy and girl extra bacon treats to assuage my guilt. Unpleasant indeed.
If you’re going to rally against domestication, fine, but don’t stop at dogs. Go after everything. That will be unpleasant. But it will tackle the core of the problem, and that’s humans. If you’re good with that, then carry on and good luck. You aren’t wrong, you’re just going to cross a lot of ugly boundaries to get there. Such is the dilemma from a Catch-22 situation.
