You don’t offer old., AND you force people through javascript with the intent to post to meta of all places. I understand I am not the target audience even without looking at the post, but I hope it’s clear to you how suspicious and ironic that combination of factors looks.
We THINK they are based in the Netherlands. Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t (VPNs and shell corporations are a thing). Either way, we don’t know if they’ll insist that Netherlands/EU law will protect them or if they’ll just hand over everything the moment they see the kind of headache they don’t want to deal with.

Lemmy.world is based in Germany. The ToS says that it’s governed by German law.
And just because it’s based on Germany doesn’t mean it’s not run as a NSA honeypot, or that they aren’t federated with the honeypot.
