Hydroxyapatite is extracted from cow bone and added because it allegedly helps teeth absorb calcium, though the claim is dubious
And its got animal products for no goddamn reason? Lead and fucking dead bodies fuck I’m just trying to live here!! Fucking shit ass gotdamnable hellworld fuuuuuuu-
ahem
I read a long time ago that it’s nearly as good to just brush yer teeth with water, guess Im doing that now.
Several children’s toothpastes, like Dr Brown’s Baby Toothpaste, did not test positive for any metals and did not contain the ingredients in question.
There’s this option too, if you can find some it might be the only torture-free-unpoisonpaste option
Fuck I’m angry
I’m pretty sure that children’s toothpastes don’t have flouride, which make them quite useless. The main active ingredient in toothpaste is Flouride. Honestly, I feel this is overblown. Heavy metals are already in everything we eat (rice, chocolate, tea), what matters is that you don’t consume too much of them. Brushing twice per day isn’t going to get you a life-threatening dose of heavy metals, but, on the other hand, not brushing well can lead to bad oral health which can kill.
You can opt for vegan toothpaste
So far, none of the companies Lead Safe Mama checked have said they will work to get lead out of their product, Rubin said. Several sent her cease-and-desist letters, which she said she ignored, but also posted on her blog.
Yikes.
So which toothpastes should we buy in Europe?
Crest and Sensodyne are named in the article. Oral-B, Colgate and Aim are also owned by American companies. The only other brand I know of is Aquafresh, whose parent company also owns Sensodyne.
Parodontax.
Owned by Haleon, who owns Aquafresh and Sensodyne.
What about Swiss Elmax? Any idea?
Fuck…
Does this affect toothpastes only sold in US markets? Fuck me man why must humanity give me such headaches
I’m guessing any toothpaste from the US should be avoided at this point, but I wouldn’t be surprised if companies outside the US had a similar problem.
Buy domestically branded ones. One of the toothpaste brands in my country cares about manufacturer’s employees with disability.
