Not to be that guy, but how is that different than now? Is employment in prison in the US, optional? Genuinely ignorant of this. I assumed that when they said you were working in the plate factory, or the laundry, or tarring the roof, it was compulsory.
And farms, factories, etc. That’s been the plan for forever
