Yeah the crossing happens on the front so depending on how you’re stitching it’ll look different on the back. If you’re doing a large block of color you tend to do all the slashes in a line one direction and then cross back over on the way back. That leads to the rows of straight up and down lines. If you’re crossing individual x’s you’ll get more of a corner looking shape
