Careful. It’s easy to be seen as an enemy in this comm. Once I was banned for saying I didn’t know something was an ADHD symptom. I suffer from many of the issues posted here but not all. For me, medication is helping but not magic. But it might be because I went decades untreated and undiagnosed. All that to say don’t be surprised if you get jumped on for saying something like you did. I think you’re even keeled but I’m not sure a certain mod will
Personally I find it a kind of privileged and toxic perspective. You never know why someone isn’t taking medication. I am not and gave my reasons in a reply to the original comment. How people cope is their business as long as it isn’t harming themself or others. And posting memes in communities to feel heard and not alone is an entirely valid way to help cope.
While I don’t know the context of your ban, it doesn’t sound like it was a valid reason for it and I am sorry for that. And while I don’t think the original comment that we are replying to deserves to be deleted (definitely not banned), I wouldn’t be opposed if it was because I do see it as toxic and privileged.
Allow me to demonstrate. I was diagnosed at 27, turned 29 in February, all of the following are reasons I’ve been off my meds:
Traveling for work and changing my pickup pharmacy too often triggered a response where no pharmacy would fill me for 2 months other than the one by my house I was only near for 1 week of every 4
Dr dying and having a near impossible time getting s replacement because my GP refused to honor my diagnosis from “oUt oF nEtWoRk”
Dr constantly being 30-45 minutes late to appointments and dropping me when I complained about it
Insurance suddenly deciding that my meds WERENT MEDICALLY NEEDED, ACTUALLY
losing my job (2x)
lack of therapeutic care alongside medication resulting in relapse of depressive symptoms due to perceived lack of change while on ADHD meds and flushing them and having a full on meltdown and suicide attempt
My wife asking about the status of my prescription and the pharmacy deeming that “suspicious activity” and dropping me
Every pharmacy in my area bar 1 treating me like a druggie every time I tried to move my script to them. Every. Time.
