Carter wasn’t exactly great as a president… But he was dignified at least. His legacy isn’t as bright as his post presidential years… But it is light years better than that we have now

i can list a bunch of bad COVID related decisions he made, sure. one of the worst imo is overseeing the CDC as it told Americans to get back to work earlier and reporting was no longer necessary, all during the pandemic still raging like it currently is.

Your fucking eyes and ears? The court granted him all this new power and he could have used it in advance to get the courts to move fast and rule on explicit things to codify it into law. But instead he just played mr nice democrat. He literally could have changed a fuckload of things to better America, in the same way Donny 2 Dolls is doing, and anything the court didn’t block would have happened.

Biden didn’t do enough but the states didn’t want the federal government involved. He offered compensation up to $28,000 per farm and to pay for any milk they had to dispose of if the virus was found in any of it. In the first half of 2024, Texas and a few other states were fighting to keep the CDC out of it. It was something like $100,000 dollars the CDC was allowed to track and try to mitigate the spread. I remember seeing it because I have chickens and wasnt sure how exactly it would evolve or transfer as my chickens walked free everywhere they wanted.

States would have freaked if Biden called a state of emergency and used an executive order to allow the CDC access to it all without restrictions, but he probably should have done it anyways.

So, not a whole lot. And, the people freaking out would most likely be republicans anyway… so all I’m hearing is “republicans are at fault”

The fact that Texas (where the first cases were reported) and many other states think infectious diseases should be political talking points to argue about is what’s dumb to me. The CDC was created to be an organization separate from party bullshit. The CDC should study such outside of the executive branch. Then again most organizations created by congress should exist outside of the executive branches jurisdiction, because as we’ve learned from how stupid we are here in America, if the executive branch has a day in it, then they will turn people against each other for populist reasons whether or not they are good for the population.
