"Resistance is a lot like a muscle. It needs to frequently be exercised in order to build its strength and capacity. It can atrophy with disuse, and, like any fitness routine, it requires time and consistency to work your way up. Anarchist calisthenics then, is the practice of small everyday rule breaking, in order to build resilience and ability for larger acts of resistance. "
This is from Sunspot’s Distro “anarchist calisthenics”. I liked the concept of resistance being like a muscle and needing to constantly be kept in shape. But I began to wonder what would “communist calisthenics” be like? I don’t think the communist approach would be the same as the one proposed in anarchist calisthenics. What are some random everyday actions that you’d say keep the “communist revolutionary muscle” in shape? maybe just regularly keeping in touch with your neighbors or something? communal gardens? I dont know.
The Communist calisthenics would probably be reading theory.
Yeah I’m reminded of the CPC encouraging party members to read classical Marxist writings daily as a way of developing discipline and integration into routine life.
Talking to people (even if it isn’t about politics), doing simple analysis, taking notes during and after reading and staying aware of political/economic developments are essential as well.
Engage in agitation every day.
