Hello! I have been using perchance frequently and I do have quite a few characters, but they have always been displayed in these rectangles when you want to start a chat with one. However, when I logged on today, I am met with a “Show all Characters” button, and I didn’t think was an issue until I clicked it, and nothing happened except for a warning that read “this page has errors” popping up in the bottom right of my screen. I have no clue what any of it means but i’m hoping somebody here can make sense of it. When I create a new character, I also can’t access them since the “Show all” button doesn’t work.

    No I haven’t cleaned my cache at all actually. It even says that my my browser has indicated that it will not clear the storage for this page without asking me first. I also dont believe it was cleared due to the chat number not being reset (the number of chats you have made). Mine still reads #1861 after making a test character, although I can’t access that character once I delete the thread due to the issue. Sadly I don’t know what caused it so I probably couldn’t replicate it.

    When it comes to my Dev Console, there seems to be quite a few issues to go through. I dont know where to start or what anything means. 😅

      When opening the ‘new chat/characters’ view, does any error popup on the console, or on the bottom right of the page?
      Have you been using the folder organization system? Do you see any folders on the view, ? e.g.:

      Errors should be with red background color on the console. You can ignore the warnings/orange ones.

        I’ll post the errors that I got from going back to the page itself. It didn’t seem like opening or closing the ‘new chat/characters’ tab directly produced one. I’ve never used folders in the past so I dont see them now. I just see the “Your Characters” in bold letters with the magnifying glass next to it to search, and a button that says “show all characters” below it (both dont work). I dont see any characters/folders in between or any of the example characters. (Pretty sure you can ignore the Grammarly error)

          The ‘show all characters’ should only be shown when there are at least 100 characters to show.
          Have you also tried searching for the character, it should return most of the characters and it would override the at least 100 characters?
          Are you view, edit, or delete the characters? Can you try clicking the ‘folder’ and leaving the prompt blank and click okay to set the character to the default folder?
          Can you export all of your data? Then on an Incognito/InPrivate tab, import it and see if all of the data is there and no errors.
          Triple make sure that all of your data is exported. Before proceeding on the following.
          Then you can try and delete the data on the non-incognito browser, then import the old data back.

            Thats weird then since I don’t think I even had 100 characters. Sadly, the search also doesn’t work. I also tried exporting my data but it just left me on “Please Wait” for eternity and left an error in the Dev Console that was very similar to the one I recieved upon trying to search a character and clicking “show all characters”. I will provide a gyazo of me interacting with these features with the Dev Console open just so it’s easier to see what i’m looking at.

              You are using https://perchance.org/ai-character-chat correct? not other link? On the Developer Tools, you can navigate to the Application or Storage directly and check the IndexedDB -> chatbot-ui-v1 to see if there are still any data there.

              Can you also try going to the top near the filter on the console, then go to the ai-character-chat frame, on hover it should show the page highlighted.

              Then on the input on the bottom of the console: run exportRawDb("chatbot-ui-v1")

              and it would download a .cbor.gz file. You can try to import it on an incognito tab and check if the data is there.

                Yes I am using the site. I hovered over the ai-character-chat and it did highlight the page. That code you gave me though was luckily the first win of the night. I opened an incognito tab and pretty much all of my characters are accounted for when I imported the file. I could honestly just switch to a different browser now, but it’s still such a strange problem. It’s honestly up to you and if you think it’s worth the trouble. Thank you 🙏
