Glad it’s official, now the studio can move on, either make some new Trek movies or sit on the franchise for 10 years until someone decides to give it another go.
They weren’t the worst, but they could have been so much better. If it was renamed to something like Star Adventures, change some character names and the design of the ships, then it probably would have been a decent action sci-fi franchise.
Why was Spok such an ahole?
Insecurity about his human heritage and a superiority complex about being vulkan (which also came from his human side)
Good. They were never going to continue it because they weren’t going to recast Chekhov, since Anton Yelchin died. That timeline died with him.
I personally thought Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness were good, and Star Trek Beyond sucked, but either way, they were never gonna make a fourth one.
Maybe it’s time to make another Next Generation or a Deep Space Nine movie? But we all know they’ll just recast Kirk and Spock again.
I’m starting to think the franchise is basically done, but I’m always down for more. We’ve had better sci-fi for years, from Babylon 5 to Mass Effect to The Expanse.
The only thing this franchise achieved was to make me appreciate how much better the first three original movies were.
But, but, broadcasting rock music to disrupt the bad guy’s ability to coordinate their attacks was so cool and inventive.
It was so monumentally fucking stupid at all.
I still remember the ads for the first one.
This is NOT your dad’s Star Trek!
Like… dude… I LIKED my dad’s Star Trek. The fuck are you on about? 😂
I saw the 2009 film like a dozen times in theaters. On recent rewatches I’ve come to realize how not-good it is, from a script/story standpoint. But the casting is pretty great, especially Pine, Quinto, and Urban. Pine captures the essence of Kirk nicely, even if the character is not written accurately.
