What’s even easier than humans evolving kangaroo-like pouches to gestate their fetuses is humans forcing kangaroo surrogates to gestate human fetuses for us.

The solution exists, we just haven’t exploited it yet.

I’m trying to envision a human child from a 'roo surrogate, and all I’m seeing is a toddler who cannot be kept in a playpen that has an open top…

Our source code has been locked and set to private so we can’t add new features. We’re getting closer with gene therapy, though.

But seriously, we lack evolutionary pressure to evolve much of anything positive.

The same reason centaurs don’t exist: baby humans can’t hold their heads upright on their own for months. Poor li’l foals’d snap their own necks just by existing. 🥲

Right? I mean, legendary points for upright ambulation and sweat glands to make our distant ancestors the first (?) distance hunters, walking/jogging their prey to exhaustion. (Also, apparently the most efficient way to “run”, according to many athletes.)

First mover advantage for the win! Still, minus a bajillion for making our progeny so “cute” they’re basically Disneyfied worms. (Until they learn to walk?! Who does that? Eesh.)
