I keep getting a “This page is not redirecting properly” error message. I think this might be how I kick the habit. New reddit is unbearable.

    The other day, Reddit asked me to supply my government-supplied ID card or a selfie to prove that I’m an adult.

    Lol! It’ll be a cold day in hell before that happens.

    I have no Reddit habit to kick, but if I did, this would cure it in a hurry.

    Yeah that’s probably some effect from them forcing logins recently. Like today the news on that is everywhere

    Yep. I really wished anything I used on there actually existed on Lemmyverse, or anywhere else decent, lol. I loathe Discord, but at least one sub has a decent server so I can follow deals on it.

    Very sad that they’re destroying years of information, good and bad. It’s not like I wouldn’t have jumped ship before if there was an alternative, but for most things, there really isn’t.

    I can’t do New reddit either. I remember when it came out I said I would never use the site again once they inevitably did this. Tried New reddit out of curiosity, and it was so much worse than I remember.

    For now, old accounts work for old reddit. I have a shadowbanned (presumably, posts never showed up) account that I use to monitor subs for deals. But at this point, it’s a matter of months, if not weeks. The timing of this, I suspect, is not coincidental either.

    Are you talking about those short reddit links? the only way is to go through them on new reddit then switch back to old.

        reddit ended the old reddit yesterday for lurkers, i could not redirect in any manner . they only allow it to login with old reddit now. im using a extension that just reskins it right now, it has it flaws though(like not formatting certain posts properly and have the extensions navigation buttons in your screen), i am not logging in on my phone.

        still the reskin is more usable to than horrid new UI. THE EXTension is called “classic layout of reddit”

        Maybe it will get updated later. Btw, old Reddit still works with accounts. There’s something in settings that tells it to switch to new Reddit and it’s usually enabled by default.

          I’m logged on. I’ve had old Reddit enabled the whole time. Still get redirected to the new version.

          Hmm on mobile anyway. The redirect extension still works worked a little longer on desktop. Not anymore
