“The peoples of the world are waiting!” — Soviet poster, 1962, showing a Soviet man offering a pen to a defiant Uncle Sam for him to sign a nuclear treaty, with the paper reading “General and complete disarmament under strict international control”. The line appears in the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, signed a year later in Moscow by the US, UK and USSR (followed by many others). Poster designed by Viktor Ivanovich Govorkov, one of the most famous Soviet propagandists of the time.
