Do people actually eat that many eggs??? Its wild that it’s in the news so much. Why don’t they just buy cheaper food until the prices go down?

Fomo. People are stupid and only care about themselves so instead of buying what they would normally buy they buy extra now despite them being a perishable.

On the news angle, it’s an easy win for the network to drum up the chaos, hype, clicks and views. There may not have even been an issue to begin with, but one story that films a bunch of empty shelves could have been the catalyst that started it all and stressed the low supply due to the bird flu outbreak, which would otherwise been a non issue potentially. It’s not like any networks took the opportunity to show people the whole supply chain and address the conditions that lead to eggs being on the shelves.
