This ends up complicating things for healthcare providers, and leads to unfairness in care provided between regions in the same province
There are 7 regions, actually: the five you mentioned, first nations, and phsa, which is a sort of administrative oversight body for the others.
But you’re right, it is a mess. While contracting for Fraser health, I also had to report to the phsa for certain aspects of my job.
