About a dozen people who worked on two investigations are being fired, according to the BBC's US partner CBS.

We have some more details for you on the nationwide immigration crackdown which resulted in the arrest of 956 people.

It is the most since Donald Trump returned to power, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

A number of federal agencies with newly expanded detention powers were involved in the raids in a number of cities including Chicago, Newark, New Jersey, and Miami.

Since taking office, Trump has carried out 21 executive actions to overhaul the US immigration system.

An unnamed man told CBS News, external, the BBC’s US news partner, that ICE took his wife during on the Miami raids this weekend.

“It’s despicable what they’re doing right now,” he told CBS. “It’s very embarrassing.”

He said his wife was in the process of getting citizenship when ICE arrived: “They just came and they snatched her.”

Last week, Newark Mayor Ras Barka said undocumented residents and citizens - including one military veteran - were detained without a warrant during an ICE raid of a local business.

      Looks like it’s the new administration.

      “We aren’t arresting anyone and bringing them into custody, making room for what may happen next week,” said the source.

      The former director of ICE’s Denver office, John Fabbricatore, told The Post that such sweeps were ended under the Biden administration, adding that “the men and women of ICE are looking forward to being able to do their job” again.

      As many as 200 ICE officers will be deployed to carry out the Chicago operation alone, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

                Doing the lords work.

                I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but if it came out that some of these accounts were intentionally designed to attempt to rile people up and make them scared and angry by some three-letter agency, I would believe it.

                  Judging by the schedules they keep, I’m pretty sure it’s people outside the US. I really don’t know who it is though, but they’re pretty good ones. Every now and then, we get the really good ones. I don’t know why a little place like this community on Lemmy would draw that caliber, but it is what it is.
