its probably because of all the celebrities attacking and suing ai for deepfake recreating them (and Artists complaining about theft of their work) that happened after 1.5 causing them to change that aspect of Flux. total guess i didnt look up.

this isn’t the nazi or gore stuff that triggered the adding of gallery ability to prevent specific phrases, but it’s the perchance quote i always remember on this topic. blah blah blah biggest nazi forum is always 2 clicks away. anyway, i think it’s a nice response and agree. I think if it became a nazi cesspool right on the main generators page and actually messing with the identity of Perchance that would be one thing, but otherwise (beyond illegal things) it’s freedom and not suppression, including of ideologies, that’s the goal.

i personally extraagree with this and ideologybased suppression is the main annoyance to me that caused me to eventually stop using lemmy outside the Perchance forums.

Couldn’t the old model do that too? Someone came on the forum long ago needing help cuz someone was filling their gallery with nasty stuff. I seem to recall the two issues being gore and nazi stuff. Idk if it was all the same event but I think the Perchancemaker then was bugged repeatedly about it for like a month and then one day presented a solution which was the ability for galleries to have banned phrases. Since then, I had some words, including Nazi banned in my own gallery.

My guess is that generators that want to be publically available are expected to police themselves. Just total guess but that’s my impression as gained from the above historical event.

For those of you who are reading this comment in the future and survived World War 3… this post is from when the conflict had just started, when the two sides were still rather small, and before it had spread to be a worldwide phenomenon.

Sort of but not really.

I see that, after 2 days of checking it out there are some negatives. I haven’t tried to make identical characters like u yet, tho i notice it has few main styles so people often have a certain look and don’t differ much. The old version recognizing 800+ different artist styles was incomparably more variation than the like 3 main styles now. That’s the biggest negative I personally see yet.

Positives tho: I could post an image somewhere people share images and not have it ridiculed for being super low resolution with jpeg artifacts. So new version is successfully ‘modern’. Also I was able to make a complex comic with all sorts of specifics which wouldn’t have been possible b4. I think it will take some time to switch how we mentally approach creating an image. Less gently guiding character creation with vague words and more specifics and detail and complex concepts. Another plus is for people generating nudity who no longer have weird model inabilities to do certain anatomies.

I would say mostly: we right now have tons of img generators built along the lines of how SD1.5 generated images that are now using the same structure to do Flux. I’m making a modern gen to work with flux, I know at least one other person who is, and I think more ppl should be. Give it a month and some of a new era of image gens should be coming online. Imo this rough patch after the update but before gens able to handle it are out is to be expected. That’s why even the biggest negative I see (the lack of diversity in styles) I’m not really paying attention to; have to get generators built on this update out first before we can really say what this update can or can’t do.
