TL;DR: The only reason why Elections BC paused their investigation is because the Conservatives forced them to by filing an identical complaint with the Supreme Court asking to have the results invalidated.

There was a time not that long ago where that wasn’t true, and independent companies are still pretty easy to buy from. For a LONG time, tobacco companies were pushing “smokeless” devices which still involved tobacco leaf.

For the record, I’m clean from nicotine for something like a year now. I just hate all the pseudoscientific bullshit pushed by the tobacco industry about vaporizers because they threatened their status quo.

Being nicotine free doesn’t give your argument credence. Vaping is incredibly dangerous, and anyone who believes otherwise is an ignoramus buying “big tobaccos” latest bull shit. The only thing good for your lungs is oxygen.

During World War 2 every country fighting Germany was committing their own Genocides on home soil and/or abroad. They were not the “Good guys”, they were simply defending their own interests because Germany wanted to expand. Those same countries also refused to take in Jewish refugees.

The Nazi ideology is more widespread today than it was during WW2, and a big reason for that was the allies took in the Nazis who worked in STEM fields and their families. They didn’t just “see the light” and change their ways, they raised their families with those ideals in a consequence free environment.

The Nazis never lost because the ideology wasn’t dealt with. If anything they are stronger now globally than they were during WW2, and a bigger threat because they just won one of the largest military powers in an election. Again.

But this time they have nukes.

“Big Tobacco” is also making money on vapes because they bought stakes in those companies or own them outright. They really don’t care if you smoke or vape, they get paid regardless.

If anything the reason why a flavor ban didn’t happen is because “Big Tobacco” successfully lobbied against it.

Please use the term “Transsexual” for those transitioning medically from Male to Female or Female to Male who wish to be seen as Men or Woman, and “Non Binary” for those who don’t like being referred to by certain pronouns.

Lumping in people against the social construct of gender with people who require surgery and hormone therapy to avoid negative outcomes like self harm is ignorant at best, and clearly destructive at worst.

Fair points. One thing I would like to point out is Arthur Meighen led under the Conservatives before they became the Progressive Conservative party in 1942, and the Progressive Conservative Party occupied the space that the modern Liberal party occupies so I personally place PC’s into the Liberal camp when I say “Liberal Precedents”.

I wish more people agreed on the system needing changing, and really committing to it. I would really like to see a complete overhaul from the Constitution up, but know there is zero chance of that happening while Canada is still Canada.

Fixed election dates are a weird one for me. I think redundancies to keep a system from being easily corrupted are good, but I also think that fixed election dates aren’t a good redundancy. It felt like something people would see as a good thing without having any real benefit. I agree we need to get money out of politics as well, but I do not see how that is possible when the primary reason a Government exists is to hoard resources which inevitably draws in people who want them.

If I am being honest with myself, I don’t actually believe Democracy works. Specifically at the scale it is being required to work, and the conditions it is being expected to work in. Globally we need some new ideas.

I understand how the system works which is why I disagree with it. I am also against FPTP, for Mandatory voting, and against the party system in general. Doesn’t mean that is “how the system works”, and that doesn’t mean I am an “Ignorant Canadian” for stating something is wrong when it is.

The fact of the matter is right now only members of the Liberal Party of Canada get to decide on who the next Prime Minister is without that person being required to run an election campaign. All you need is a Liberal membership, $350,000, and a few hundred Liberal signatures for the top job. Which is wrong.

Electoral reform means electoral reform, and unelected people allowed a chance at becoming the Prime Minister is one of the things we should reform. Especially when internal party leadership elections are one of the big targets for election interference.

Funny enough, the only precedents for a Prime Minister not winning an election are Liberals. I assume this is because Canadians would lose their collective minds if Conservatives pulled the same thing.
