Hahah. Excellent.
You used it so many times that I was sure its some weird slang word somewhere. It is now, I’ve tagged you as “tennis”!

Linux@programming.dev•Every line of code is a politial statementEnglish
0·16 hours ago“Religion” does not mean “to have a belief.” If that would be true, then having the belief that the healthcare system should be tax payer funded would be a religion. Having the belief that walking instead of cycling is a better way to getting to places would be a religion. Having the belief that you should cut your grass twice per month would be a religion.

Linux@lemmy.world•No, the kernel has not gone "Full AI Slop Code"English
52·17 hours agobut that quote isn’t from anyone really involved in the patch at all.
Reminds me of the recent panic about KDE becoming a AI Desktop Environment. Blog posts were written, news articles were made and posted to Lemmy, people were outraged.
… Turns out, it was just some random dude who made a “hey someone should make a AI version of KDE”-post on a forum.
What part of the world calls temperatures “tennis”? Sounds like something the Aussies would come up with

4·17 hours agoI think of Piefed as a Lemmy client. Like in the same way that mIRC and HexChat are IRC clients. Different look, feel and some difference in features but the core is the same.

Music@lemmy.world•Ivan Mládek a Banjo Band — Jožin z bažin [1977, dixieland] + videoEnglish
1·17 hours agoTo be honest, some of them are only worth it if you know the original song. At least with the Finnish ones, you could barely figure out what song they were playing, especially since Trujillo tried to sing… the Finnish lyrics… in Finnish. :D It didn’t go well, but very cool that they did it anyway! The whole country liked that, it was mentioned on the national news broadcast and everything.

Technology@lemmy.world•Starting October 30, business accounts will consent to Meta scraping their websites if they continue using Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsAppEnglish
1·2 days agoI sent everyone a message, roughly “hey I’m moving away from Meta products. From now on you can contact me through SMS or Signal.” All the important ones followed me to Signal, not all, but enough. The rest are using SMS or calling, some have stopped contacting completely. Which is sad, sure. But I look at it as they don’t think I’m important enough for them to spend 30 seconds installing Signal or using a SMS that is already available for them. So I assume they don’t like me very much, which is fine. I don’t think about them too much either.

0·3 days agoYup. Apparently the duo has a habit of playing local songs when Lars has to go recharge his tempo-confusing-machine etc. In Finland they played a cover or Rappiolla by Hassisen Kone, which was nice.

Well, Trujillo and Hammett did

Europe@feddit.org•Why is there no word for please in the Nordic languages?English
3·7 days agoI think kiitos and olkaa hyvä, etc are good enough equivalents for “please”. Theres not a straight one word translation for “please” but theres multiple options for a replacement.

I have a Compaq CQ61 as a Debian “server” thing from around 2008. Does my IRC bouncer, Navidrome and Komga. Works fine on that purpose. My daily driver is a Thinkpad T430, not sure what model year, at least a decade old, maybe more. Got it second hand. Works well for me, I can play Morrowind. Thats all that matters.
