I also have to say that I really like the recurve on that blade.

I am owned by several dogs and cats. I have been playing non-computer roleplaying games for almost five decades. I am interested in all kinds of gadgets, particularly multitools, knives, flashlights, and pens.

Everyday Carry. What essentials do you carry on a daily basis?@sopuli.xyz•[Advice] I'd like to build a first aid kit or two to have in my bag & car - What do I put in it that will be useful in everyday situations?English
4·8 days agoI realize this isn’t what you’re asking for, but I thought it might still be useful. I’ve been carrying pre-built kits made by Adventure Medical Kits for around 30 years now. I particularly like their “Ultralight” series, but all of their kits seem to be practical and well thought out. They have specialized kits for just about every situation, but their general purpose kits do a good job of covering all the things you are really likely to need without wasting space and weight on things an average person is unlikely to need.
I carry an Ultralight .3 in my pocket or pack most of the time. I have an Ultralight .7 in my bike bag. I have one of their larger kits (I don’t remember which) in both my cars. And I keep an Ultralight Pro in my kitchen, in case I need to grab one in a hurry.
I add small amounts of my daily medications to each kit, just in case. They see enough use that I end up buying new ones every few years.

politics @lemmy.world•Abdul El-Sayed's fighting style terrifies MAGA | Republicans don't know how to handle this Michigan DemocratEnglish
15·12 days agoI agree, but if you actually listen to El-Sayed, that isn’t what he’s doing or who he is. It’s easy for confidence to be misunderstood as aggression, particularly in politics. The right always tries to attack their opponents as “weak”. Their understanding of that term is based on toxic masculinity as their only role model.
El-Sayed is a case study in the difference between toxic masculinity and healthy masculinity. He is a fighter, but he’s fighting to help people, not to bully anyone. That is only an issue because his opponents keep bringing it up.

6·14 days agoGet a good belt holster for the light. It will actually stick out less, and it will be held more securely. Holsters, especially horizontal ones are ideal for getting things out of the way.

0·14 days agoI like the idea, but I’m not sure how that would work. They’re already so narrow that a very small amount of refraction would bring them to a point and back out into a wider beam.
Or she could be deciding which patch of sunlight to lie in. Or both. With cats, you never know.

The light doesn’t seem like a good candidate for EDC, but it may be useful for more specialized purposes. I’m excited to see electronic diffusion technology in a production light. I hope we will see more of them. I currently use a two-channel light with both spot and flood LEDs, but a system like that would be more versatile and a lot more efficient.

I’ve been making my living as a developer for more than 40 years. My take is that languages come and go. All of them are compromises that do some things better and more easily than other things. It doesn’t really matter what language you learn first, as long as you understand that what you really need to learn are the underlying concepts, not the syntax or the libraries. If you do that successfully, you will be able to pick up new languages relatively quickly.
