  • I’ve seen this issue come and go with our instance (usually resolved in less than a day), but also recall it being a Lemmy-wide issue, too.

A minor trick I’ve used since then has been to sticky any post I make in my sublemmy, then come back to it in an hour or so and unsticky if it seems to be getting ‘normal’ votes. The point being that for the segment of people who like checking your community directly, they can more easily see the new content, compared to those who browse FAVORITES or ALL to see same content.

I know it’s not much, but it’s helped me a bit during such federating outages.

  • Haha, thanks for the interesting answer.

    I admire his balls.

I guess I see what you’re saying, and can also admire that to some extent, yet the overall picture is still of a charlatan who not only used & abused people on a personal level, but also built an ongoing entity that does so on a continuing, organisation level from what I understand. For example, the chronic curtailing of womens’ rights, including downright subjugation by higher-ranked Mormons, just to name one issue.

She HATES that I scammed them by the way.

In this era of late-stage capitalism, I can appreciate the irony.

…the people I have met are some of the most honest, hardworking upright people I have ever known.

I can imagine that being very much true at the scholarly or ‘disciple’ level, yet not so much true at higher member levels and institutional levels. Oh well, it’s still not scientology, tho.

  • This issue has begun occurring again. (Jan 28, '25)

Same here, again. I tried uploading here multiple times both today & two days ago, but no dice. As for alts, Imgur is completely unreliable long-term, Google Drive can be tricky and cumbersome to share images from, and as for ‘one-man show’ alternatives like LensDump, who knows how long they’ll last?

Funnily enough, I just realised that if you upload an image to Reddit, then place that in the top, URL image field of a Lemmy post, it will work beautifully…!

EDIT: To upload multiple images there, you need to do it from “new Reddit.” First, go to the sub you want, and chop of the front of the URL such that it reads “sh.reddit” then go ahead and post. Certainly it will also need to satisfy the requirements of the sub in question. I’ve just tested these things out here.
