  • The process will not be abrupt but gradual. I will stay with an email service that seems to be the most functional for me and I will change one by one first the accounts and services I use the most and then the ones I use the least. When my old email is unlinked to most things in my life, I’ll leave it abandoned for about half a year or so, to adapt, and then I’ll delete it definitively (if it’s possible without anything exploding or Google sending a Drone to kill me lol).

  • accusations of being an echo chamber are mostly made against inclusive spaces by people who are upset that they can’t air non inclusive opinions.

And there’s where Poppers enters with “You can’t be tolerant with the intolerant”.

Although, so any group of people that shares believes is an Echo Chamber regardless?

  • This is what helps me with that:

    1. A healthy amount of Scepticism is always good.
    2. Fact check any new information by yourself and make your own conclusion.
    3. Discuss your ideas with others and make questions (just like you are doing right now).
    4. Be open to be corrected if you’re wrong in something.
    5. NEVER assume you know everything you need to know about anything.

  • It is difficult because many new users come from centralized experiences and for them it is more natural to simply enter the first instance they find, which will always be Mastodon.social. They may also think that being on smaller instances means less visibility (which I believe is not the case, although I am open to be corrected on this).

I think the ideal would be a kind of recommendation system based on tastes and interests. When you go to the Mastodon site to register, it asks you your main interests and based on those it recommends one or another instance.
