They want the economy to crash.
One side because they like to crash businesses and then walk away with all the money, and they figure a country is no different.
And the other side will let them, because they want people to stop playing those degenerate evil video games. That it does great damage to the country is simply a just punishment for allowing such degeneracy in the first place, in their minds.

They’re desperate to find an ‘out group’ they can feel superior towards. In the ‘good ol days’ all you had to do was look at someone’s skin color, but now they’re being told they can’t do that (openly).
They’re also cowards.
So they’re aiming for a very small, underprivileged group that they think still seems ‘weird’ and ‘outside the norm’ enough that they can pick on them and not get in social trouble for it.
The problem is (and this is also a part of why they don’t like trans people) trans people look like everyone else, so they have to go around yelling at everybody and looking like morons.
Some people cause joy wherever they go, others whenever they go.
Speaking as someone who lives in the Pacific Northwest, that shit can take full sun to full shade, grow insanely fast, and choke out even the largest trees. Leave a small piece in the soil by accident, and you’ve got a new monster-sized plant before you can blink.
It all depends on where you live. Lucky you that you live in a place where ivy behaves itself. Not everyone gets to be that lucky.
It was for a time, back in the 50s & 60s. From what I’ve heard bosses would try and set up their unmarried junior employees with a ‘good match’ too, sometimes.
Protecting them from what now? Exactly what are we protecting them from in a ‘secular world’?

They want Order. Specifically, an Order where everyone is put on the Proper Rung of Society and Keeps to Their Place. And of course their Place is above X (insert minority group here) because they are Special because of Y (insert ridiculous circular reasoning—usually racist—here).
These people literally believe that if Society becomes Unordered, it will collapse. And of course the only ones who can maintain that Order are the Great and Glorious White Men. The proof is that all the richest, most powerful people are White Men! (Any rich, powerful person who isn’t White and Male obviously got there through DEI action or cheating somehow.)

Because power held for long periods creates a sort of ‘that can never happen to me because I’m rich/powerful/part-of-the-in-group/whathaveyou’ attitude. That plus the desire to keep that power at all costs makes for weak-spined nonsense like this.
