In sumo, every day is leg day!

if anyone’s got a hot tip on how to see my posts there that’s great
so… I’m not an expert, but I think if you go to the basic lemmy search function on lemmy instance A, you can search by user on lemmy instance B. the search field requires some text but you can put a single space there. That’ll give you all the posts/comments that federated from instance A to instance B.
For example, I have an account on slrpnk.net that I don’t use any more, but on lemmy.world I can search for it thusly:
Images won’t be available (bc slrpnk.net is down and the images are hosted there) but all the posts and comments should be visible – if the community was being federated to lemmy.world.
like an enormous sumo wrestler, full of fat
Slander! Sumo wrestlers are defined by having a lot of muscle. Source: https://youtu.be/jcppRWz3_as?t=349 Yes, they have fat but that serves a similar purpose as armor and sandbags: to help defend themselves and make them difficult to move.
New sumo tourney starting in 2 weeks! !sumo@lemmy.world
yeah check these out for more details, including some info from the lemvotes developer:

Why are people downvoting this, it’s pretty good. (I’ve been watching a lot of Miami Vice recently tho.)

Great movie. When I first watched it I thought it was just “okay” but over the years, various scenes kept popping into my head.

It was meant to be delivered over dialup.
Yeah, I think what lemvotes does is: act as an instance to receive posts and comments, but only for the purposes of showing the up/down votes.
Federation is pretty interesting, everything is relative, like:
At least I think that’s how it works, idk I’m not an expert.
Sure, take a look at these:
Yeah it 404s for me sometimes too, and sometimes if I re-try it later it works, idk why.
Boston would be the brains, NYC the brawn.
No way Area 51 would be on a map because it’s Top Secret! That’s actually the state of “Las Vegas.”
And Ohio is crazy, no way such a thing would really exist, it’s just a meme. That’s actually the state of “The White House.”

Nobody said cats? I’m very disappointed. I’m going to comb my hair, look at you reproachfully, then go to sleep.

Huh. I interpreted it to mean: if you end up with a crappy result, it’s on you and not the tools. This leads you to think: should I focus on improving my skills? Or change the task? Or adjust expectations? etc.

Instead of just downvoting, I’ll explain. Using “ask” in that way is slightly non-formal, but standard enough to use in business or diplomatic contexts. One might say: “What is your ask?” to mean “What are you requesting from us?” In this case, the request is being made automatically in a restaurant, so it is acceptable to refer to an “automatic ask”. It’s true that this is not formally a full sentence, but in the essay’s context the subject and verb are implied and obvious, and the brevity of the phrase draws attention to itself. This is a good effect because that question is the focus of the entire essay.
