While Biden was president of the United States, Russia invaded Ukraine.
While Trump was president of the United States, the United States attacked Iran.
Can you spot the difference?
I was abused by my christian parents.
I would like to live long enough to see humanity mature out of superstition and free the world from human greed.

Thank you. I think people are getting the wrong impression. I’m quoting the Mother Jones article:
Two data analysts at the University of California, Los Angeles’ Voting Rights Project found that over 40 percent of the people the Department of Justice has deemed likely noncitizens were not even on the state’s voter rolls in the first place, and many others are likely legally eligible to vote.
It’s saying that 40% of the noncitizens were either not registered in the first place (thus would not be able to vote) or were legally eligible to vote.
In a Tuesday hearing, the Justice Department told a federal judge that it created its entire list by checking a commercially-bought dataset containing partial California voter rolls against a government list of people who had been assigned numbers in the federal immigration system.
But just because someone is in the immigration system does not mean they are not a US citizen. If they have completed the naturalization process, they are citizens.
I don’t see anything about made-up names or people living out of state voting in California.

Do you have a source for that?

I think most of them will say “no”, especially because it has been years since we worked together. But I may ask some of them just to confirm. Thank you.

Hello, I am a computer science major, graduated with my BS in 2014. I worked for years across three different companies (or 5 if you split up the mergers, or way more if you count contracting work). I feel my resume is strong, but I lack some crucial pieces:
I have no references, as I left my most recent company on bad terms. The response I got when I criticized their RTO demands was that it was just “funny money” involved in keeping the buildings occupied.
I have no portfolio. My GitHub projects are messy and out-of-date. I started a new one recently, but I’m burnt out and finding it difficult to work on. I have a website, but it is limited in terms of features (I still haven’t bothered implementing the search bar out of fears of mishandling potential SQL injections etc) and contains many personal videos of mine, including vlogs as I went through a recent mental health crisis from which I am still attempting to recover. I leave them up on the off chance they might help somebody, but any potential employer will probably not be sympathetic to or understanding of my behavior.
Finally, I have no AI experience. I don’t really want to support that particular part of the tech industry, I see it doing too much harm. But most companies are all-in on it and specifically looking for AI devs.
So, yes, I have been applying to local fast food places. So far, only McDonald’s interviewed me, but they said they’re not hiring right now. Mostly I get no responses at all. I’ll keep trying until money runs out. I don’t know what will happen then.
I wish I had gone for environmental science instead. I want to do conservation work. I went for computer science because I wanted to make video games, not to sit through mindnumbing meetings and be forced to use bloated corporate bullshit to accomplish nothing for nobody. I wish I could have known how things would go.
I hope others are doing better, but it sounds like there are many layoffs going around and fewer opportunities to share. Good luck.

I hope someone knows the answer to this. I’m having a similar issue with my pet poove.

Sometimes the bad is attributed to satan. …whom god created and continues to allow to do evil, I guess, because something something “free will” and we’re just supposed to ignore all the times god instantly killed other beings who took actions against his will.
Mysterious ways, how dare you ask reasonable questions, etc etc. It’s all about victim-blaming.

If they believe their kids went to heaven, they might also thank god for murdering kids “taking his children home.” It’s a death cult.
I’ve tried navigating my local government’s confusing labyrinth of different and semi-functional websites. It seems my particular county election office information is hidden behind a Facebook link. I am unwilling to sacrifice more of my data to them, I deleted my account years ago and will not be remaking it.
If I can find out where an office is and when they accept early voting, I’ll do that. I may just have to get in line on the 3rd at my polling place. I struggle just to get myself to the grocery store some days, but I am determined to vote! It will probably be best if I go early in the day.

I think a lot of people don’t realize that not every Jewish person is Judaist and not every Judaist is Jewish. There’s this weird idea that all members of the race believe the same thing, which is demonstrably false, yet people continue to conflate the race and the religion.

I’m also unsure if I possibly missed a text from him in the few days between losing my phone and getting a new one
Have you tried logging in to your phone service carrier’s account online? Mine lets me view and send texts through my web browser. You might be able to see texts your phone didn’t receive.
Other than that, it sounds like you were attracted to him, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a good fit for you. I don’t get the impression that you did anything wrong. He might be looking for someone more convenient for him. If the conversations are nice but the intimacy is difficult, maybe you could remain friends? I don’t know. If it seems like he’s just trying to get something out of you, it’s probably best to move on.
I think the biggest book I’ve ever read is Stephen King’s “The Stand”, and I’ve read it more than once. Read as long as you’re interested, then put the bookmark in and give it a rest until you find yourself interested again. Don’t force yourself to push onward, take it at your own natural pace.
I’m currently reading the quran for the first time. The second surah was very long, it took me multiple sessions to get through. There are over 100 surah. It will take me months to finish. It’s very repetitive. But I want to know what’s in it because many people believe it and are even willing to kill and die for it. So I try to process each statement as I go, and I don’t worry so much about when I’ll get to the end. It will happen eventually if I keep reading. It’s also not the only thing I’m reading, I switch to whatever I feel like at the time.

It’s not always because they believe the bible, but it is often because they believe the bible. It describes a rapey abuser who can and will torture you to death if you don’t blindly obey him, and they call that “love”. They do completely backwards, wrong, harmful things while genuinely believing they are in the right.
You know that vague “mandate” they keep talking about? Spoilers, it’s from god. That divine being which we have no actual evidence for, no reason to believe its existence, no way of contacting it to verify what it wants. It gives them a blank check to do whatever they want regardless of how many people they hurt.

Critics say the animals suffer, pointing to deadly collapses and dangerous escapes, while advocates point to the jobs they create and the heritage they uphold.
“We’ve been abusing animals for years, so we feel entitled to keep doing it.”

Especially with inconsequential bullshit like this.
I wish it was inconsequential. Grown adults believe this nonsense is literally true, and they vote.

Because in order to grow a religion, you have to convince people of a delusion or make converts, which end up being even more zealous for said idea.
Exactly.
Why is reality not enough for people? Our universe is endlessly fascinating.

Yes. And when this happens:
Add on to that that the bad people share the same beliefs makes predicting when evil behavior or shadowy fucked up evil behavior is gonna happen really difficult.
…the response is usually “well, they weren’t really christian.” The implication being “they based their morality on an unreachable source with divine authority and committed their lives to it in a BAD way, I’m doing it in a GOOD way.”
Magical thinking is deadly.
Mission accomplished. :)
