Yeah, i mean, I’m just starting down a road of general electronics repair so this sounds way out of my depth… but love to learn deeply

Fairvote Canada@lemmy.ca•BC Conservatives receive 69% of the seats with 48% of the vote. BC voters cheated by first-past-the-post and pushed further towards a two-party system.English
3·3 days agoYep, it is lame. Really the story of NDP voters sitting this one out becuase of Eby’s ChatGPT-ass decision to ignorantly gamble with everyone’s lives.
It was a fucking stupid move; and this situation is completely his fault. He had probablky two more years to produce something of value for voters and to have an actual plan to do something more than make spurious claims about hypothetical worst case Conservative rule.
I’m not saying those claims are totally baseless, but… wtf.

1·4 days agoYeah. I agree.
Cut off your nose to spite your face is not the way to operate, but unfortunately people are not very well skilled in not letting their emotions affect their judgement… and that’s a problem that is worsening under the influence of info-narcotic technologies because it makes us more easily controllable.
Oh, sorry… that last thought is for the group that meets in in that old abandoned train station building near the bridge downtown.
It’s a simple and calorie-rich food that requires very little preparation and no complex techniques. The fact that you can throw a bunch of stuff on it to actually make it taste good comes as a bit of a luxury add-on.
I like butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese and chives.

privacy@lemmy.ca•ChatGPT Is Building Detailed Psychological Profiles of Its Users
2·4 days agoSure, I’m not making a judgment against people who are using it to fulfill an unsupported need in their life (although that is very dangerous to do).
But even so, those things are being offered as a facsimile and so I can’t really even accept them as a cost in pragmatic consideration against what ‘AI’ is fundamentally being used for.
What I am saying is, the common person in the world happily rejects the concept of things that threaten their sovreignty of self because they are fascinated by something that seems to make any aspect of their life more convenient; they prefer to rationalize their current course over making any effort. Surrendering to be enslaved rather than be troubled to think.

Was/is one of the most obvious use case for the tech: Propaganda and surveillance.
Thankfully, I clocked this immediately on release and have never had an account with them or any of the others. Same with facebook and the other big socials. Nope, I’m not handing the ghouls behind these technologies the keys to manipulating me and my mind.
Everyone IRL acts like I’m being hyperbolic whenever I’ve warned them about these things, but here we are again as always and now people will just pretend there is nothing they can do. There is: Stop. It’s the next best thing to not starting.
Wanting any people to have less rights is a wild take.
This kind of thinking comes from the idea that somehow, because those people are different from you, that you somehow have less because they have been granted anything.
You know, this style of belief is why the billionaires have everything and we have nothing and they are laughing at us all.
Despite any downvotes you get on this thought, it is the point that has been so consistently missed by progressive people. That cultural dominance, when applied forcefully will be ultimately rejected and replaced.
However, I do not see that will be a lesson that conservatives can learn, either. That lot will do the same thing and eventually be replaced when they push it too far. Or do you somehow see your side as being able to become reasonable in how they treat others who are not like themselves?
That’s the fundamental issue, not blue hair or SOGI or whatever it is you might believe. It’s simply that ‘others’ exist and don’t agree with you… that’s the same problem regardless of what side of it you’re on. Punishing the others is just a circular path to where we are once again.

82·6 days agoAt least, in part, a desire to punish Eby for his stupidity in calling this election without any real plan or purpose.
I think the human desire to punish others is a wierd emotion that we are not taught how to properly handle and that allows stupidity to be rewarded with even greater stupidity.
A Conservative win fucks me over pretty badly… that said, Eby doesn’t deserve to be Premier any more, either.
Whether or not autism plays any role here, this sounds like depression-related behaviour.
YouTube videos all day will keep your dopamine reserves low. Best tip I can offer is to let yourself become bored instead and then use that feeling to propel you to do things away from your screens.

Autism@lemmy.world•What do you need to live a good life as an autistic person?
3·9 days agoYes, I agree with this too and it is also my way. Expecting and accepting the social consequences of making people unconfortable is a very important skill to carry folks like us though. I think it’s possible to balance indifference with the understanding that you walk a challenging and underappreciated path through life and forgiveness is a powerful tool to wield in letting go.
Finding a way to be on board with all of that is freedom.

Autism@lemmy.world•What do you need to live a good life as an autistic person?
1·9 days agoYes, the be yourself advice is very impoartant to follow through with. It is a bigger challenge for those of us who live in a seemingly universal disapproval of others; even so, it becomes even more important to live according to your own way.

Autism@lemmy.world•What do you need to live a good life as an autistic person?
1·9 days agoThanks, I understand a lot of this. Is this really a past-tense situation for you, or do you now have any handle on these things for yourself? I realize the wealth-dependent aspects are probably a no.
