United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Burnham Rules Out Coalition With the Green PartyEnglish
0·24 days agoThe word “antisemitic” has been weaponised and worn out to the point of meaningless now.
The Greens are the only mainstream political party in Britain speaking out against an ongoing genocide. As such there is literally no other party I can bring myself to vote for.
I think it’s mostly fabrics (clothes, bedding etc) shedding, so small particles of cotton and wool (and a small amount of polyester as we haven’t 100% eradicated that yet). I’m sure there are bits of ourselves and residue of our toddler’s meals getting thrown into the mix as well! So, probably not much load we could easily eliminate… We have a small home, so everything is quite concentrated.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Creator of free Adobe clones unveils open-source Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word replications — Autodesk tools and other subscription-based services may come next
0·28 days agoYeah, you should definitely try using it again - especially since the big 3.0 release.
Menus and tool names/functions still do not map perfectly onto Photoshop’s (it is its own thing after all, so why should it?), but it is a serious and sophisticated piece of software. Easily adequate for my professional reproduction work.
I switched to it from Photoshop two or three years ago and had to spend a few hours watching tutorials and reading the manual to make the transition. But now there is hardly anything I can’t do in GIMP at least as fast, easily and reliably as I could in Photoshop.
We probably clean our walls more often than that, but we have a small open-plan home, so dirt has less places to go.
I’ve been thinking about getting some kind of air filter. Not so much because I want to clean walls less (although that would be nice), but because I don’t like the idea of my family breathing in lint and dust while it’s suspended in the air. I was vacuuming the other day which stirred some particles up and I saw them getting sucked into the hoover as I was holding it up.
Probably worth its own discussion actually.

Climate@slrpnk.net•How do we build social movements in an age of collapse? An interview with activist Tadzio Müller - Cont'd1·1 month agoHe only mentions this once briefly, but it seems like the ‘theory of change’ behind this is to establish networks of provision outside of the system, to replace the system itself (or parts of it I guess).
Have I understood that correctly?

And I’m sure the remaining 20% can simply be eliminated by getting rid of excess and wasteful discretionary consumption.

A common objection to the green transition is the cost of it.
What doesn’t get mentioned as much is the cost of not doing it.
